bo.lundquist replied to the topic Anyone else use Monette mouthpiece with Greg’s system? in the forum WindWorks 4 years, 2 months ago
I have been playing on a Monette Prana B6S1 for half a year ( on my trumpet). It’s similar to the Bach 3C. As you say, the mpc fight against me if I blow to hard. Can’t say if it’s the same with a Bach 3C. When playing with minimal press, straight forward, it is easy to play in tune.
I have been playing on the B2S3 for many years. It’s bigger and…[Read more]

My dear grandchild asked me to teach her to play the trumpet. I have never tried to make her interested, so I’m both surprised and happy…
We started to spit some water in the bathroom, blowing against a burning candle without closing it, blowing on a tissue, and finally put a mouthpiece on her mouth. She made clean low C just from the start and…[Read more]

Hi!
I have stopped using mine. I feel it is a risk of “overblowing” and pressing against the lips, at least for me.
When I use my earphones, I try to keep the volume on the high end to force my self to not blow so hard. I have not tried the C exercises with the Silent B.

Thanks Marshall
I will follow your advice. To vary the training between the B-tr and the picc in shorter sequenses is probably a good idea. Breathing control is something I struggle with.
Thanks again

Hi!
I have problems with the range on my piccolo trumpet. Hardly any higher notes than on the B trumpet. Probably I’m pushing too much and there might be too much air. Are there any good advice from anyone ??
Will Greg demonstrate in the #wihsc as promised?
bo.lundquist replied to the topic Cornett players? in the forum WindWorks 4 years, 7 months ago
I play “cornetto” with a big Monette B2S3 ( Bach 1.1/4 )and my comrades in the brass orchestra use even bigger ones (V-shaped). I found that smaller mouthpieces made the quality of the tone more like a trumpet. I use my trumpet for the #wihsc.

Thanks for the comments. I’m aware of my old habbit of pinching. The #wihsc will most probably help me to a more optimal setting.

Hi!
I have used the Facial Flex from time to time for maybe 10 years. I feel it strengthen my muscles around my mouth. Anyone more than me using this simple device ? Good or bad for you ? (it smooths out wrinkles as well 🙂

Hi!
I’ve noticed that after three weeks in the slur challenge (practicing almost every day…) I have to push in the main tuning slide, in order to keep me on 440 Hz. I have adjusted from approx. 16 mm to only 12 mm. Anyone more with the same experience??

Hi there – Johnelwood !
Thanks’ for your story. It seems that we have about the same “problems”. A few days ago, I had a very nice moment when everything worked. I think Greg used to call it “a Coffee moment”. I managed to relax, and the high notes suddenly came out with not too big effort. But – the next day everything was closed again. It f…[Read more]

My range did drop three steps, from high E to C, when I changed the lip set up and use minimal pressure from the abdominals. I don’t kick any longer but it’s extremely difficult to avoid stress build up and stay relaxed. It’s a hard work to learn how to make less work on the trumpet…

Hi. Thanks for the reply. I have another “behavior”: when I climb up hills, my jaw automatically move backwards, which make the upper lip go slightly forward and down. By making this realignment it is much easier to reach the top notes without too much force. I think I remember you (?) saying that this is a dangerous and wrong set up. Whats your…[Read more]

Hi!
I often think that playing relaxed in the upper register might be similar to singing in falsetto mode. Am I right, and are there a technique for this??
