Hi Rob,

Another thought I’ve been having on this topic lately (for me) is: maybe I tilt upwards a bit because of the shape of my teeth and jaw. Maybe that’s ok (?!) so long as there’s not too much tension??? I think this probably aligns with some of what Hajo was saying, too–probably everyone is different.

For me, I was definitely exaggerating…[Read more]

Rob,

I’ve always played the same way as what you are describing.

I’ve spent the last 18 months trying to change this, just over 12-months of it looking at MTM. I’ve made some progress, but not there yet, and don’t really know the answer.

However, I don’t think that trying to play ‘down’ is necessarily the answer in itself, though.

For me,…[Read more]

Hi Hajo
Thank you for your kind offer to have a look at a photo of my chops and see what you think. I’ll see if I can get back to this on the weekend.
Is some swelling in the shape of the mouth piece normal, do you think?

I don’t understand for sure where I should be putting the mouthpiece, and I think this is related to this topic. i would appreciate some help. When I play, I end up with a line, and some swelling, in the red part of my lips, top and bottom. The outside diameter of the mouthpiece is centred and outside the ‘red’, top and bottom. But the inside…[Read more]

I’m interested in this question, too.

(Contrary to the above) I’m concerned that my jaw is too open.

Should the front teeth be in line, and almost together?
