<p>The &#8220;short&#8221; version of my understanding:</p>
<p>&#8220;Centered sound&#8221; is all about sound quality &#8211; basically the amount of overtones you produce, the &#8220;richness&#8221; of your tone.</p>
<p>The pitch is only about the base frequency of the (hopefully resonant sounding) note you are playing.
