MysteryToMastery.com began as a humble online platform in 2004, created to share a groundbreaking trumpet method developed by acclaimed Australian trumpet player Greg Spence.
What started as a single method book — “The Only No-Mystery Guide to Trumpet Mastery” — quickly gained international recognition for its clear, results-driven approach. The success of this publication led to a second book, and the seeds of a global trumpet education movement were planted.
Over the past two decades, Mystery to Mastery has evolved into one of the world’s most respected platforms for brass education. In 2018, Greg launched the WindWorks Trumpet Academy Online Course, a revolutionary step forward in brass instruction.
This isn’t just another method — it’s an immersive system that blends physiology, psychology, and performance science to help players of all levels break through barriers and play more freely and efficiently. With thousands of students and countless success stories from around the world, WindWorks has earned its place as a trusted resource for brass players seeking true transformation.
As WindWorks grew, so too did Greg’s reputation — not just as a brass educator, but as a beacon of hope for musicians suffering from task-specific focal dystonia. Through his own unique teaching strategies and in-depth research, Greg began working directly with musicians affected by this condition, helping them rediscover their playing abilities when they thought all hope was lost.
After years of one-on-one work and study, Greg launched Fubrian.com — a dedicated recovery system for musicians dealing with dystonia.
Fubrian is not a treatment based on guesswork. It’s a structured, neuroscience-informed approach that helps retrain the brain and restore coordination through mindful, task-specific exercises. And it now sits proudly under the Mystery to Mastery umbrella.
Before becoming one of the trumpet world’s leading educators, Greg Spence enjoyed a high-profile career as a professional trumpet player. He performed for 16 seasons as lead trumpet on the hit TV show Dancing with the Stars Australia, and his credits include collaborations with major international and Australian stars such as John Farnham, Olivia Newton-John, Ray Charles, and many more.
Greg has also toured and recorded with the likes of The Melbourne Symphony Orchestra, James Morrison, and numerous orchestras for major musicals including Jesus Christ Superstar, Chicago, and West Side Story just to name a few.
Now, his focus is on giving back and spreading the word with his personal research and discovery —offering brass players and musicians everywhere the tools to not just play better, but to play free from strain, fear, and limitation.
Greg Spence has dedicated his life to helping trumpet players around the world overcome frustration, break through playing plateaus, and unlock their full potential. His passion for trumpet education was already evident back in 2011—as seen in the video above—and that same energy continues to drive everything he does today.
Now in 2025, with more than a decade of ongoing research and thousands of success stories behind him, Greg’s mission has only expanded. Through the launch of Fubrian.com, he now also helps musicians affected by focal dystonia return to playing—often after years of struggle and setbacks.
From beginners to seasoned professionals, Greg’s work through Mystery to Mastery and the WindWorks Trumpet Academy, and now Fubrian has transformed the way brass players think, feel, and play.
