congratulations I’m wanting to take the shortcut to easier brass playing good day I’m Greg Spence and welcome to mystery to mastery.com and the windworks trumpet academy one of the worst things I hear is the fact that there is no shortcut it’s just hard work to learn to play a brass instrument have you heard that before I hear it and see it written everywhere and I completely disagree there is a shortcut to easier playing and Brass playing is not hard work the shortcut is avoid errors if
we’ve got a road that starts here and goes to here this is where you are now this is your dream Avatar the gig that you want the the stage that you want to be on what are the obstructions what gets in the way from you getting from here to hear what everyone does is they take the off-ramp they go the wrong way and end up running into trouble because the way that they think about playing their psychology or the way that they feel when they’re playing
they’re h psychology changes because of their understanding of what they think they need to do so we keep going off that direct route from here to your dream Avatar and keep hitting obstructions now those obstructions we call errors and they are based on the misunderstanding of course so we’ve got a bunch of Concepts technicals errors and applications to show you exactly what you need to be doing to get get to whatever it is that you want to be able to play like super duper fast it’s
the shortcut because you do all the right steps in the right order at the right time now we’ve got the concept most people are impatient so they want to get to that play that piece or get on that gig or whatever the case may be super fast so they’re going to miss all of the steps at the start and rush to get to the notes and try and play the high note or the fast note without taking care of the steps required if you’re going to
build a house you’ve got a foundation then the walls then the second level then the penthouse and the jacuzzi on top the last thing you want to do is build that jacuzzi without having a solid foundation we call it the custard Foundation if we rush through impatience doesn’t train the brain what to do urgency however if you’re really Keen to get great at playing f fast you got to know exactly what to work on then you repeat the steps the right steps in the right sequence
more often that’s urgency do the right things more often and you will get to the result faster be impatient and miss the steps that are required you’ll never get there and most brass players sadly don’t get to the point where they want to get to what they’re playing trust me I needed to rethink everything about what I thought about brass playing my whole concept and understanding of how it all worked from researching the neurology and the physics and all sorts of stuff to understand the learning
process and the playing process and it’s basically the opposite of anything I was ever taught so if you want to get results seriously and you want to do it fast don’t be impatient be urgent and do the right steps to avoid the error and you’ll get from today to your dream Avatar and overcome any obstructions really quickly hey guys if you’re wanting my help to develop an efficient 3 to four octave range with consistency confidence a killer sound and a virtuoso technique I’ve put everything I’ve
learned over the last 35 years into one easy to follow program that you can benefit from right now from your very first lesson you’ll begin to understand why you’re having playing problems and why you’re hitting ceilings our step-by-step comprehensive technical development program is for all brass players of all levels and all styles and are run live weekly master classes and live lessons via Zoom to make sure you’re on the right track now of course for an amazing product like this there is a cost involve but
I’m going to pay in full the cost of your first week why because I want to put this in front of as many people as possible this will literally change everything that you thought you knew about how to play I can’t wait to see you in the course for your fully paid week
Want faster progress without skipping the important steps? Greg Spence contrasts urgency with impatience and discusses why rushing towards the result can reinforce the same playing problems.
How can you make trumpet practice more effective?
Greg encourages a clear sequence of small steps, repeated with attention to the process. His distinction is between urgency to practise the right things and impatience that skips the foundation in pursuit of a high note or difficult passage.
