People often ask, how does the trumpet work.
Sound is made by the vibrations of air BETWEEN the upper and lower lips.
This vibration causes the lips to oscillate allowing puffs of air to travel through the trumpet.
The lips DO NOT have to close for this to happen. Pitch is determined by the speed of these oscillations.
