what we need to work on now how hard is it to play play a brass instrument we’ve got to breathe we’ve got to make a vibration we’ got to make sound so where does it all go so horribly wrong why are there some players that can play all over the instrument with ease and most players really struggle to get beyond the ceilings in they playing the reason is number one the understanding of what you need to do now that requires a change to the 1.0 it’s

basically a change to the Instinct there are lot of mechanics involved in the way that the body works and the way the instrument works the body instrument systems the integral part of getting the result that you want on your instrument so if you’re just picking up the instrument and playing and not getting the results like a car if the car’s breaking down we need to know what’s breaking down in the in the mechanics in the motor we want to be The Driver we just want to

go for the the cruise down by the beach but if that car breaks down we need to know how to fix it we need to know why it’s not running correctly so there is a step of processes required to make sure that your foundation is very solid you don’t want to build the Leaning Tower of Pisa on a bowler custard cuz it’s going to fall down so I’m going to share with you step by step every single step required to get you from where you are

near your 1.0 to where you want to get to that’s your desire that’s where you want to be with your plane without getting derailed so if that sounds good to you we’re ready to get in and start building a really solid foundation for your plane click this next video right here and make sure you come and check out mystery.com across the world brass instruments have the reputation of being hard work part of the reason for that is people make playing really hard work when they don’t

have to in this video I’m going to explain to you how the aperture Corners work and how to make playing almost effortless welcome to the new world of brass playing come and join us you will feel the difference

Greg Spence uses the Custard Foundation analogy to explain why a clear understanding of the playing process matters. Before adding more demanding exercises, he encourages players to examine the habits supporting their sound.

What is a custard foundation in trumpet playing?

The analogy describes building advanced playing on an unstable understanding of the basics. Greg explains the value of learning the body and instrument system in a logical sequence instead of repeating an approach that keeps producing the same limitations.
