      Hi Guys,

I can’t seem to shake the feeling that I am playing with my teeth too far apart. As a result I find myself using quite a lot of mouthpiece pressure to keep the seal happening. Does anyone have any experience or advice on correcting this issue?

      Hayden

Hey there Haydn, watch this video.

How are your harmonic slurs coming along? Too much mp pressure will hinder their improvement.

      Cheers, Greg

      Hi Greg,
Thank you for your response! Sorry it has taken me so long to get back to you. The harmonic slurs are coming along ok, but are definitely still far from perfect. I think maybe I was a little unclear in my original post as to what is actually happening (or what I feel is happening) in my playing. It may not be a case of the teeth being to far apart but possibly that my lower lip is being pushed inward by the mouthpiece creating the feeling of a wide gap between the teeth. I hope that makes sense?
      All the best,
      Hayden

Hi Haydn, any small change feels massive at the start but will become comfortable over time. Let the sound be the judge and the use the #POD Point of Difference then to discern whether you are overdoing it physically. Embrace the difference in feeling. As you get your harmonic slurs developing using the PPC’s with a good sound and with the free feeling of singing, everything will fall into place.

Keep experimenting with an open mind.

      Cheers,
      Greg
