• Hello Peter,
Thanks for this precision. I think that i was doing that. Thinking to change pith by firming or relaxing the corners in a inward or outward movement. Finally i think that it is a simple movement of the corners moving toward the mouthpiece (like saying toooo) and letting the center of the lips free to vibrate. I have the feeling that…[Read more]

  • Awesome, superb explanations! And yes this forum is very interesting, powered by people with the same passion! good night.

  • Hello Peter,
Thanks for your excellent video! Yes it helps me very well. And i’am going to try the leadpipe buzzing with this technique. I will show you in a video asap. Kind regards! Francis.

  • Hi John, Peter and all the members,
There is my video to exhibit my understanding of the corners in.
But i think sadly that, despite its trivial appearance, it is not yet the right movement!

    Thanks for your comments.
    Cheers, Francis.

  • Yes of course it will be with pleasure! I will make one ASAP. Good night John.

  • Hey John,
You’re right. There’s something wrong with my approach. I feel that it is not the right way because i can’t play above G in the staff easily. I’am going to try your advice. Thanks very much for that🤜 Kind regards, Francis.

  • Thanks very much Peter for your advice! I’am going to try that. See you later! Cheers, Francis

  • Hey Peter,
If understand well, i have to contract the muscles of my face to make a concentric movement of the corners so they are moving inwards reducing the aperture? I am going to try that. I’ll let you know. Thanks very much!

  • Hey guys,
There is the link to my video on YouTube.
    Could you make a comment?
    Thanks a lot.

  • Hey guys,
Thanks very much for your answers. But my question is about the best way to put the corners in, without pinching the center of the lips, when slurring:
    1) raising only the lower jaw or
    2) making a movement of the lips inward or
    3) both of these.
Could you tell me how i can put my video on the forum?
    Cheers, Francis

  • Hey Greg and all trumpeters,
I’am still confused how to slur with efficiency. Because it was ok on WIHSC until I struggled to slur from G to C on the staff easily!
So there is my question in a video on Facebook. Thanks for watching and to make some comments to help me! Cheers, Francis Maziers.

    Hi Eric,
It is the same for me.
I feel that it’s because the lips are more relax and vibrate freely. And then the sound is much more resonant.
So for me it is better to play with a pocket of air in the upper lip, it is an indirect sign that my lips are not too tensed.
    Kind regards.
    Francis.

  • Hi Daniel,
Thank you for your help, it’s very kind of you.
I’m going to watch these videos and try not to hurry up and try to apply the 1% rule effectively.
In any case since I’m on WindWorks, I think that I have progressed and that I am more advised to play the trumpet with ease.
    Cheers, Francis.

  • Hi Greg,
It is not the look that I am looking for but the process. Are my lips doing the right shape. As you said to me, stick to the process and do not fall into the trap of a great sound, that’s will come later.
So I am just trying different positions, how far to put my lips forwards to make the exercises more easy, more freely. Here is r…[Read more]

  • Hi Woody,
    Thank you for your answer.
It helps me to stick to the process of the « mmhaaou » and guides me to know how far to put my lips forward.
    Kind regards.

  • Hi Greg,
When I look at the aperture between lips, it seems to me that the shape varies with the pitch. In size of course, but even in his form. For lower notes the aperture seems more rounded than for upper notes where it appears more fusiform. Is it really the case? What is your experience with that?
    Cheers, Francis.

    Hi again Greg,
Sorry to insist and I hope it’s not boring you. But when I play passively in the singing C exercises, I can put my lips more or less forward and have a sound. How do I know then, without paying attention to the tone, that it is the right position, the right shape?
    Cheers, Francis.

  • Hi Greg and everybody,
I have the feeling that, when my lips are forward like the exercise with the tissue, it is the inner side of my lips that’s vibrate sympathetically.
Is it the right feeling that i have to look after and in all registers?
    Cheers.
    Francis.

    Hi Greg,
No it is not so loud but I have the impression that it is much louder than yours when I listen the videos.
So i’am Wondering if my shape is really right. Because I noticed that when my lips are more forward, like a kiss, then the third space C is more like yours. But then my feeling is very strange and the tone seems to me a…[Read more]

    Hi Greg,
    Thanks for your answer.
It helps me a lot because when I see your videos, it seems to me that your low c is very louder than the next notes even with a low c#. For me it is not like that. when I let go passively my breath, the low c is loud and the next notes also, until C on the staff. So now, with your return, I think I have understood…[Read more]
