For anyone trying to understand what Greg refers to as the milk spout I think this 10 second video explains it well. This fellow also subscribes to the same aperture control that Greg teachers.

Thanks for posting. Here is a session from WindWorks LIVE recently too

      Goodmorning 1flugal,

The MP4 that you shared is from Jason Harrelson, his teaching methode is called the Trumpet Momentum. Jason is a trumpet builder and inventor.

He’s been teaching over many years and just like Greg he’s approaching the methode out of his own experience.

Yes Jason is a great source of trumpet information. The spectratone series mouthpieces are quite amazing. Although some differences there are a great many things alike between both Greg and Jason both aspiring to maximum ease of playing.
Jason’s life story is also quite the journey.
      Regards
      Wayne

I’m still working out the mechanics and have no clue what the function of the Milk Spout is? Maybe someone can help me to understand why we do it this way. I’ve just started doing the lip slurs and keep the 1% rule in mind when I play also try to keep the body as relaxed as possible keeping the shoulders down and focus on the CH breath and the Slingshot.

      Hello Reijer59

I made the experience that when I blow the tissue my airstream direction was with milk spout more straight then without.
I think the bottom lip is more relaxed while playing with milk spout
and for me it is easier to control the corners.
One other effect is that milk spout avoid to pull the bottom lip inside under the upper lip.

Hope that will give you an idea Rey we practice milk spout.

      Regards
      Hajo 🎺

Hello Hajo, that makes sense what you say there. I myself am a downstream player, so besides to learn to play more relaxed I also am working on keeping the trumpet more upwards. I practice this a lot with visualiser, tissue, mouthpiece and lead pipe.

      Thank you for your explanation.

      Greetings from the Netherlands,
      Reijer
