• Hello Janet, I had a 10 minute introduction talk with Greg and we had a follow up lesson. During this lesson things got more clear for me. Also the singing C live forum was very interesting last week. So I keep working thrue the Largo state and keep checking for over exertions.

Thank you for your advice Janet.

    Greetings from Reijer 🇳🇱

  • Thank you all for replying and sorry that I responded so late, sorry for that.

  • Good afternoon Hajo and Marc,

Thank you for the aswer. I think this could be the meaning of the phrase. So I will “Check In” more after playing these excersizes and check my feeling.

    Greetings from Reijer.

  • I have a question about the Largo Ascending Slurs. Above Largo Ascending Slurs Nr. 4 it says ” “Check In” at the end of the exercise “. What is the meaning of this phrase? We’re or with what do I need to check in?

I hope someone can answer my question.

    Greetings,

    Reijer

Hello Hajo, that makes sense what you say there. I myself am a downstream player, so besides to learn to play more relaxed I also am working on keeping the trumpet more upwards. I practice this a lot with visualiser, tissue, mouthpiece and lead pipe.

    Thank you for your explanation.

    Greetings from the Netherlands,
    Reijer

I’m still working out the mechanics and have no clue what the function of the Milk Spout is? Maybe someone can help me to understand why we do it this way. I’ve just started doing the lip slurs and keep the 1% rule in mind when I play also try to keep the body as relaxed as possible keeping the shoulders down and focus on the CH breath and the Slingshot.

    Goodmorning 1flugal,

The MP4 that you shared is from Jason Harrelson, his teaching methode is called the Trumpet Momentum. Jason is a trumpet builder and inventor.

He’s been teaching over many years and just like Greg he’s approaching the methode out of his own experience.

Pia guten morgen. Ich komme vol der Niederlanden und mein Deutsch ist nicht so gut. So ich schreiben weiter am Englisch. Great to hear you are doing so well. I can play just under the top of the stave with some kind of ease. But higher up I struggle. So you must have a better control over your appeture then. What way does the appeture move when…[Read more]

  • My all time favorite is Herb Alpert, I’m born in 1959 and as a youngster I dragged my mother down to the recordstore to buy his first album “The Lonely Bull”. After that album came a lot of others he made with his Tijuana Brass. But also as a solo artist after the Brass stopped playing he’s a wonderfull performer. I was so lucky to see him play in…[Read more]

  • Ken good evening,

I guess the learning process never stops, so embrace what you can do and be open to what you can’t do untill you grasp a new aspect in the Cycle of TEE’s and tick a new box.

Great to be here on the forum meeting all sorts of players pro’s, amateurs.

    Have a great night,

    Greetins from The Netherlands.

  • Hello Ken and Mike, My name is Reijer, 63 years og age and I have been on Windworks when it still was MTM. I’m a amateur player who started when I left the Dutch Navy at the age of 54. Eversince I have been searching for a way to nail the horn. Unlike you Mike I did things on my own (in a different way) with only 1 goal and that was to play along…[Read more]

@johnelwood goodmorning from The Netherlands. I’ve been reading your messages in the forum. Thank you for sharing your experience. I have just started windworks again after giving “The Balanced Embrouchure” a go. But it felt like a lot of tention was building up in the body. So I have returned here again. It was nice to read what your practice…[Read more]

  • Goodmorning to all of you,

I want to ask you how you do your practice routine? I’ve come back here for a few weeks now. I was working in “The Balanced Embrouchure” methode and it brought on so many tension in the body and lips that I have let go of it and are back here. I’ve started doing the Largo section reading and working on the exercises.…[Read more]

  • Good afternoon Hixsta,

Yes I have a visualiser, I had a zoom meeting with Greg this morning to address my habits of playing downstream with the trumpet and pulling my chin backwards. After a while when Greg explained a few corrections I could make to my aperture and how to achieve them I already started to feel the airstream going up and with no…[Read more]

  • Thank you Pete for your input. I also try to aim my airstream towards my hand and be aware that my teeth are straighten out instead of my jaw sticks under my upper teeth. So keep up the practice. Do you have the idea that playing more straigtend out is easier?

  • It’s great to hear that you keep working on it and don’t give up. Have you tried to take more brakes during your practicing? So the lips can relax and get in shape again?

    Greetings,

    Reijer

  • Goodmorning Dimitri,

Thank you for the reply, are you keep coming back to the Largo stage and do you start of with being still? As Greg tell’s us the instrument is only an amplifier of our body so maybe you can try to be more relaxed when you start and try to recognise we’re the tension builds up?

I’ve started playing again when I became 53, I’m…[Read more]

  • Goodmorning from The Netherlands,

I have been on the forum before but took a leave from the trumpet during Covid. I’m a downstream player and have trouble to play in the upper register. Do any of you have the same combination and what are you doing about it to get a better sound and a bigger reach over the staff?

I also have a question about the…[Read more]

  • Goodmorning John,

Yes we had a conversation a few times here and i did know your a downstream player as well. What i am doing is move out my jaw so my teeth aline more so the release of air is more forward then downwards. It takes time to get used to but the sensation came along when i played more upwards. Use the humming as a start and then the…[Read more]

  • Goodmorning all,

Doing the singing C series over again i think i had an exciting feeling that for the first time doing the series i had the feeling that the relaxating feel came on to me. Did more of you had to do the series over again to get the hang of it?
