Is this meeting still on? I should be able to make it!

Thanks so much my friend, your videos are always much appreciated. You’ve given me so much over the years I feel like I’m stealing from you. But that’s the kind of generous soul you are, and the world’s a better place because of it. I will be more diligent about checking in with the backswing and working with eyes closed. I’ve probably gotten to…[Read more]

Awesome! I’ll check it out ASAP! Thanks, Greg!

John, what do you advise if you feel you are using the aperture corners properly but the aperture closes off? I suppose there’s only so far you can pull the drawstring before the bag closes up completely.
Ronald – thank you, I will add the results exercises today and see what happens. Going to stick in andante for the time being. The zoom m…[Read more]

Hello all, Greg’s recent golf tourney videos inspired me to make a video of my progress on the Andante singing C exercises to share on the forum. Feedback is welcomed and encouraged. I have been doing the andante set for about 4 weeks now I think, and I have some questions, which I pose in the video but thought I would list them here.
1) Is t…[Read more]

Yes, this all makes perfect sense. I’m probably not resting enough between transitions. And yes, I am so aware of the pinch in my lips now when I ascend which results in me having to force air through. I want it GONE! For my last gig, I took the week off from Windworks as I didn’t want my chops to be confused. That seemed to help. I play every day…[Read more]

I am attempting to learn Windworks like Greg suggests as a “2-building approach”. I do my Windworks exercises, which for me is trying to gradually get better at playing with a mmaaoohh lip setting. This has been slowly improving. I hope to one day be able to transfer over to this way of playing. After I’m done doing Windworks, however, I seem…[Read more]

Hixsta,
I am very intrigued by your experience of switching between “2 embouchures” when you first started this transition. Could you elaborate more on what your old setup was? I feel I am in the same boat. I have started this process a few times but gave up after a bit as I got bogged down trying to keep up with gigs. I’ve finally decided that I…[Read more]

^^^ This is awesome. Keeps me going on this path when I start to get impatient or frustrated, which is often.

I’m looking for 2 specific videos of Greg’s – can someone help me find them? The first is the “Playing in the red” video and the other is where he discusses having 2 houses or buildings and you’re trying to eventually move from the older, less stable one into the newer, stronger one, relating it to trumpet playing.
I found this quote of from…[Read more]

John, sure, I’d be interested in giving it a whirl when you have finished your assessment of it. I don’t want to steal it away from you too soon if you’re still working with it. Of course, I’d be willing to pay shipping. Thank you!

Yeah, John! Great analogy (I played with that thing too as a kid), and nice effortless ascent to high C and D! Thanks Simes and wildflower, I used to think there was a stigma of shame or embarrassment to share my struggles on the trumpet. The thought of “Well, I’m a professional, I shouldn’t have these problems, and everyone else sounds great so I…[Read more]

Awesome stuff as usual, Greg, and of course you are 100% right. Thank you! No more beating myself up. Positive outlook and realizing that my playing isn’t garbage. Back to having the visualizer out and going to it often. I’ll need to rewatch this again and again. One day we’ll get those beers! Actually, been meaning to talk to you about our brass…[Read more]

John, I’m very curious as well. Please, once you get it and try it, let me know if you think it would be worthwhile to me. I’m willing to part with the cash if it gets me going in the right direction. Tom even says something like, even if it only gets you to feel what it’s like to move your corners in that way. I rewatched his video. He does…[Read more]

Peter, you’ve given me some more to think about and try. I suppose part of my confusion is that I thought we wanted the embouchure to come forward more as well as in. When I form the cooling soup set, then try to bring corners in, my lips pucker out simultaneously. I can’t figure out how to isolate the movements at this time. The aperture does get…[Read more]

Another short one showing the lip position pulling the trumpet off the lips when playing a high C.

Haha, Greg, wwe were typing at the same time. YES, of course yes! Things are a bit tighter schedule-wise now, but I can make it work sometime for sure.
