Hi Zenith, thanks for your input and sharing your experience, I am sure you are not the only one facing this dilemma.
Firstly, don’t get too hung up on the mirror after playing, it might give you a false sense of what is going on.
I need to emphasis this more and more. You are developing a new Psychology (understanding) and new sensations…[Read more]

OK, this is going to be long, go get the popcorn. Someone says to me, “how’s the gold coming along?”, literally I said, “Oh, just chipping away at it!!!” 🙂
So 3 days ago, not one shot fired at the driving range, and remember, I am only using mid and short irons NOT blasting away with a driver.

Hi all, thanks for being a part of this journey of exploration!
ROD:
Your attitude with golf is much healthier than my attitude on trumpet. I know I would be better off just being happy with improvement, but I want a lot of improvement, and taming this mindset is something I need to work at.
You said it my friend. Happy with improvement and no…[Read more]

Hey Eric, this hopefully serves as a great lesson to anyone reading. THAT is how deep you have to look. With your magnifying glass out, you discovered an important flaw that must be fixed; it went unnoticed for years right?!
So you are on the right path but need to break it down even further. With bent finger in mouth BCH BREATH, take a really…[Read more]

Well let’s just say that today was a very different beast. Not one shot fired. My headspace was great and I know that every mishit is a step closer to a clean hit. Strength of grip, club head speed, balance and follow through – all variables to be explored. Without fail a looser grip and slower club speed garnered better results.
I am only u…[Read more]

OK, amazing day of experiencing my own “Zen in the Art of Golf”. I purchased a second hand set of LEFT HANDED golf clubs today, not the usual thing for a right handed player! I spent over 2 hours at a driving range and hit(???) 200 balls. So many insights into my own psychology and that of the players around me.
For every ball I hit, there…[Read more]

Greg Spence replied to the topic Moderato Upper Register Development Buzz in the forum WindWorks 6 years, 11 months ago
Hi guys, your upper register will develop party as a result of refining your efficieny in the lower register and partly as a result of experimenting with all of the concepts without using brut force.
RONALD Don’t stress about the no buzz. Use your fingers at your aperture corners as demonstrated and embrace the farty sound 🙂 Your chops have…[Read more]

Hey Matthieu, yep, heaps of ideas!!! Firstly, well done for recognising the inconsistencies in your sound – Critical awareness of the problem is half the solution!
Clearly you are using too much muscle strain to get the higher notes out – DON’T PANIC – you are not alone and that is fine at the start. What part of YOUR range feels like…[Read more]

So the first observation when learning the new stance and the first part of the backswing is my reluctance to breath correctly. Being calm in the moment, breathing first then acting is not a habit for me when learning this new technique but I am consciously reminding myself to breath as I backswing – then there is a PASSIVE drop back into the…[Read more]

From years of inefficient trumpet playing to “Zen in the Art of Archery” to now fixing my abhorrent golf swing.

Hey guys, it is better to play than not play of course 🙂 It’s just not ideal. The shmutes are good, the yami silent brass are also good. I highly recommend trying to find a place to play open as much as possible. Happy days.
Greg Spence replied to the topic Pre set volume? in the forum WindWorks 6 years, 11 months ago
Hi @bennie1, when I mention preset volume, I mean the amount of compression behind the tongue for an instant release.
The tongue is stopping the air from coming out (see pu-lip-ku-kmt-tu and aRRRRticulation), the SHAPE is already set and the volume is determined by the abdominal support used.
That being said, if you were to SING a full,…[Read more]

I have so many questions about the MTM… OK, lets go 🙂
I notice that if I don’t warm-up enough the notes usually don’t speak. And if I do very soft playing before its easier to make the notes speak. There are many variables here but certainly getting blood flowing and any stiffness out of the lip tissue is desirable. With issues like this,…[Read more]

Hey guys, we are after minimal movement; no movement is impossible. The Low C to G partial is the biggest interval on the horn being a 5th, more than 1/2 an octave!!! 🙂 There has to be changes or the notes would not change. Hi there Eric, there are a whole heap of exercises as you progress through the course that focus on starting on higher notes. You will find them as you progress through.
