• Hey Peter, thanks for your post!

I am pleased you are getting the “Ku” attack happening. As I made reference to in a video, it is as much a general technical/efficiency development skill as a useful articualtion option.

You are talking a lot about personal sensations i.e. middle of the tongue and close to the roof of the mouth, that may or may…[Read more]

  • Quick update, I took a fall on a slippery floor and looks like I have ruptured my ACL requiring surgery and 3 months rehab #no golf I am mortified given I was planning to get stuck into it given the Ultimate Level is now live. Oh well, lots of mental practise WindWorks Secret style…

    Breathe Greg… (a little frustrating!)

  • Hey Peter, I totally see where the confusion comes from it’s slur/tonuged playing each note twice rather than double tongued. I know what I mean, I just don’t mean what I say, I’ll revisit it, thanks for pointing it out.

It is not tk double tongued.

As for speed, it’s cool you have set up your own ppc to keep track. I like to make things…[Read more]

Hi Vernon, you are spot on. I talk about Mouth Comoression in the Ultimate Level as a means to back off inthe upper register especially on smaller horns.

This is where a clear understanding of “energising the air in the pipe” rather than blowing air to create sound becomes essential.

    Thanks for using WindWorks!

    All the best,
    Greg

  • Greg Spence replied to the topic Pitch? in the forum WindWorks 6 years, 7 months ago

Hey Francis, think of the sound equation – Sound = Flow + Tension for a simple model. The flow (or strum) is volume and the tension is the pitch.

The main reason for this whole idea is to dispel the thought that blowing faster air changes pitch; thats the same as saying to strum a guitar string harder to play a higher note.

    Cheers,
    Greg

  • Greg Spence replied to the topic Pitch? in the forum WindWorks 6 years, 8 months ago

Hey Francis, the pitch is set by the oscillation of the air column which is determined by the tension of the lips plus air compression, so both I suppose – The Sound Equation: Sound = Flow + Tension

Watch Compression Depression since you are an Ultimate Level member, it is explained in detail there.

The best psychology to eliminate…[Read more]

  • Hi guys, I am so sorry for my absense, I am here working on the Ultimate Level, literally 14-15 hours a day. I want to launch on the weekend before I go away so totally absorbed and calmly frantic 🙂

I understand your dilemma Jutta and I think if done the way Charlie is intending, you’ll end up in a great position. There is as you say a degree…[Read more]

  • Hey there @buekmann, Lips slurs are the trickiest thing to do, especially when you are starting out.

You must be really patient and spend most time making the best sound you can. Develop the slurs slowly each day without forcing. I don’t mind you looking ahead to more advanced material to try out but at this stage spend most of your time…[Read more]

  • Greg Spence replied to the topic Process v results in the forum WindWorks 6 years, 8 months ago

Hello Mr Chambers, your observation is totally correct – it is the same psychology.

Roger Federer put it perfectly, “trust your practice!” Meaning focus on process in the practice room then simply create the result based on the skills developed.

I talk a lot about this in the up coming Ultimate Level videos and that psychology plays a major…[Read more]

Hey James, I’m slaving away and getting really close, I’ll let you know very soon. Cheers, Greg

  • Greg Spence replied to the topic Leadpipe Slots in the forum WindWorks 6 years, 9 months ago

Hey Bo, this topic came up earlier and to my (unresearched at this stage) understanding of falsetto, it is a vibration of a thinner part of the vocal cords. I have a stupidy loud and high falsetto voice. I feel in the upper regsiter there is a couple of ways of approaching it. Re-shaping the lips to find a thinner bit of lip tissue to vibrate -…[Read more]

  • Hey there Guillaume, thanks for your empassioned post 🙂

I agree about the cost but sadly it is what it is. Trust me, there is no value in it for me from a time/cost perspective but I believe in them so I make them available. Notice I use my fingers very often, a free and natural substitute but not as good as the real thing.

    1. I am proud…[Read more]

Hahahaha, I get what you mean!!! 🙂

Francis, if it didn’t feel different, then you are probably not doing anything differently so therefor you will not get a different outcome!

To me, “the sounds is more resonant and it doesn’t hurt any more” says it all.

    Stick with it!!!

    Best Wishes,
    Greg

  • Hey Jutta, it is a very good question and you raise a lot of points.

The awareness of the aperture corners and the inward – horizontal movement is to avoid clamping down the chops in the middle. In the low register, I simply want you to recognise the extra firming of the aperture corners at the rim of the mouthpiece.

    Have you got the…[Read more]

  • Greg Spence replied to the topic Leadpipe Slots in the forum WindWorks 6 years, 9 months ago

Hey John, there are definitely slots as you say hence it getting quite diffcult to play above the e on the leadpipe without clicking up to the next harmonic.

There can be benefits to learning to hit the higher slots and bending through the slots to refine SHAPE so keep exploring, just make sure you are not squeezing and manipulating.

    Cheers,
    Greg

  • Hey Howard, yep that sounds good. Eyes closed and Concert Hall “Check In’ as well as lots of humming to keep the process free.

Use the SOUND as the judge for the time being. Just being aware that it does move in the mouth is all I am concerned about. Let’s just stick with the simplified idea for now, “the lips pick the note, the tongue makes…[Read more]

Eric, you have discovered the gold, now follow through with it. As you said, the sound wasn’t affected and I bet it felt way freer. Will you be able to play your same range right away? Probably not but maybe.

You have said everything that I would have said to you already about anatomy and placement. The fact that the mp keeps wanting to move…[Read more]

Hey Brian, congrats on getting through the Premium Level! I am filming the Ultimate Level as we speak so the Rudy, Emerald and Diamond Master Series will be available next month.

Be sure to have that magnifying glass out so your efficiency is optimum. The Ultimate Level escalates pretty quickly so a firm grasp on all of the lessons up till now…[Read more]

  • Long story short, I have played one game since my last post and whilst there were plenty of mis-hits, I managed to par the 2nd hardest hole on the course a 404 meter (441 yards) par 4.

If you remember when I started the left handed process, I had played a game with my Dad and Brother in Law. I was again playing with these two:

  • Hi Howard, welcome to WindWorks and thanks for posting.

I am not sure how familiar you are with me and my material but I have had a LOT to say about some particular CG “certified” teachers, not all, just some. They were telling their students (I know many of these students now 😊) telling them NOT to look at my material. I am sorry but that is…[Read more]
