I would say that with a high degree of personal satisfaction, this could be one of the healthiest and most important threads going on ANYWHERE about trumpet playing right now.
That is not a marketing line, I sincerely believe it because it is touching on the essence of EVERYTHING that so many people suffer through and we have a beautiful case of…[Read more]

Hey there wellsweb62, thanks for your message and I’ll be gentle I promise 🤞
Too little “pressure” will result in a weak, unsupported sound.
Too much and the feeling of freedom required i.e. humming/singing will be compromised and the BCH (Body’s Concert Hall) will close it’s doors and you will experience back pressure and strain in the throa…[Read more]

Hey Steve, thanks being part of our WindWorks community.
This is a very subjective thing. The Foundation Level should definitely be done daily to reinforce new pathways and to continue to develop efficiency.
I think just pushing the speed envelop every day is important and taking notes of your progress rather than hours per day.
Eventually you…[Read more]

Hey there Caleb, welcome to WindWorks!
At this stage, I want you go between PROCESS and RESULTS practice. The PROCESS sets the desired FEELING and the RESULT provides the desired sound.
If you find the FEELING of freedom of airflow diminishing or the sound losing centre then you are probably beginning to manipulate.
The more you reinforce…[Read more]

Hey Klaus, I’m really sorry for missing your message, I’ll have a look for it. (I don’t see all posts, the idea here is to have players talking to each other but I check in every so often)
I really suggest watch all of the Largo Stage videos with a fresh mid and then watch the PU-LIP-KU-KMT-TU 5 articulations video.

Hi VeeTG, thanks for your comments! 🙂
It really depends on the individual, circumstances etc. Generally I do not recommend stopping everything else.
This is all explained as you work through the course but you won’t undo what you have learnt, rather it will drip feed into your regular playing AS LONG AS YOU KEEP REINFORCING WHAT YOU HAVE…[Read more]

Hey there VeeTG, great post! How do we indeed… It is just the way it is, efficient players, hard working players. People sharing what they think they are doing and perpetuating the “it’s hard work playing brass” myth.
If you are at a point in your playing where things are not working for you, you are in the right place.
I does not really…[Read more]

Hey Guys and thanks John, you are completely right.
PLUS, If you don’t mind, I am going to use this line, I won’t use your name – “I could never play much above the staff. G above the staff was the top of my effective range despite many years of practice and lessons from reputable teachers.” THIS IS THE PROBLEM FOLKS!!!!!!!

Hey Francis. I would not get to concerned about how it looks. What you describe sounds totally fine but I am now going to say what will become my new mantra:
“How does it feel? How does it sound?”
That is all I am concerned with. The look really doesn’t matter.
Cheers,
Greg

Hi again Francis, you just fell into a trap… you were concerned about the sound…
If you try to control the sound, you are not focusing on pure process. This is using a different part of the brain and there is an element of expectation.
Whilst there is merit in focusing on a beautiful sound of course, that will be done in other…[Read more]

Hi Francis, I am pleased that you are going well. I am not convinced that you are remaining completely PASSIVE if your Middle C (third space) is as loud as your Low C. If you are totally convinced you are PASSIVE throughout, then that is very impressive 🙂
Cheers,
