Greg Spence replied to the topic Level of the p? in the forum WindWorks 6 years, 4 months ago
Hey Francis, as I explain in the video, the C# will actually be louder than p and the G will be softer. The C# will be closer to the volume of the Low C. Just allow the C# to be whatever volume it wants to be PASSIVELY!
I hope that makes sense.
cheers,
Greg

UPDATE: Knee surgery in the next three weeks. I am starting to watch a bit more golf and doing some serious brain training to get myself back to where I was before this stupid accident.
I guess it has been a real test of the WindWorks Secret, practising away from the driving range with no clubs.
Bring it on!!!

Hahahaha, I just saw all of these replies. THANK YOU for creating such a positive and nurturing environment. This was the first ever post we did as a means to test the forums functionality, hahaha! Anyway it’s still here so I’ll roll with it. Have a great day!

Greg Spence replied to the topic Low C in the forum WindWorks 6 years, 4 months ago
Hey there Hugo, thanks for your post and may I say you are not alone with this dilemma; I have been through it myself.
You are actually very close to the answer! When you are playing the pedal tone you are actually nailing the process and it is fortunate that you recognise the difference when playing the Low C, there is your “Point of…[Read more]
Greg Spence replied to the topic Practise Routine in the forum WindWorks 6 years, 5 months ago
Hey there Rob, my advice is do the Foundation Level Daily and make sure the freedom and centre is there and work on the 1% Rule, then be selective as to what keys you want to touch on going through the Premium Level until you get to your range limit.
I suggest to mix it up so as to not get in a rut repeating all the same exercises every day.…[Read more]
Greg Spence replied to the topic Charlie Porter on MPC buzzing in the forum WindWorks 6 years, 5 months ago
I actually gave Charlie a lesson a few years back but we certainly didn’t do any peeling. Whilst there are elements of what he says that I am in total agreeance, I have a few issues with it both from a psychological impact perspective and over exertion perspective and I understand of course that is not the intention. There are micro but visual…[Read more]
Greg Spence replied to the topic Rambling on about kicking. in the forum WindWorks 6 years, 6 months ago
Hey Daniel, this isnβt a PASSIVE exercise at all. I just want to make sure that there is not jolt when getting the higher notes. There is a degree of abdominal support required to maintain volume throughout the exercise however the flow should be constant and steady with no signs of kicking the air when changing SHAPE. I hooe that makes s…[Read more]

Greg Spence replied to the topic Moderato…when and where do I feel "active?" in the forum WindWorks 6 years, 6 months ago
Hey Bach37, consider the voice. If you went from whisper to yell, when, where and how does the body engage? Yes it will engage as you get louder but be sure that it doesn’t comprimise the BCH and feeling of freedom.
Stick with it.
Cheers,
Greg
Greg Spence replied to the topic Just a little thought about changing pitch! in the forum WindWorks 6 years, 6 months ago
Hey Francis, thanks for your wonderfully thought out question.
There are many variables involved in your question.
As you would have seen in SPS Screech Pedals, what people think they are doing vs what is really happening comes to mind. Also the psychological impact of solution 1 is more often than not extremely destructive.
Firstly “the speed…[Read more]

Greg Spence replied to the topic Synthetic or sympathetic in the forum WindWorks 6 years, 6 months ago
Hey there Eric, I am yet to do Synthetic vs Sympathetic but the essence of it is: is your leadpipe sound Sympathetic i.e. free, loose and in response to the the reflecting pressure wave OR Synthetic i.e. pinched, manipulated, artificial.
I am going to do a video going through the entire “Dispelling Brass Playing Myths” presentation. It is on…[Read more]

Hey there Peter, it is there as something to work towards over time my friend; my approach is “If I can do it, anyone can.”
If you feel you have the concepts covered and you are playing freely like humming/singing, then by all means move on to the Premium Level.
Stick with it mate.

Hi Brian, thanks for using WindWorks and thanks Ron, you are SPOT on π (and I look forward to seeing you back one day to keep you progressing.)

Hi, I must say this is not a post that I expected to see although I am sure WW and BE are aiming for the same result but coming from polar opposite approaches, so my thoughts…
1. “When applied correctly…” is a vitally important point. I have seen many people not apply it correctly and it causes massive overexertion.
2. If your…[Read more]

GREAT POST!!! Yep, clean your horn more than you think.

I was a shocker in university for not cleaning the inside of the instrument and it does make playing difficult.
Cheers!

Hey Jutta, welcome back and hope all is well.
Here is a snippet from another thread that demonstrates the ups and down you will experience:
