Hey Mike, congratulations on your successful performance and funny you should post that because the main topic of discussion in our Q+A session is how to deal with combining the MTM/WW approach on gigs whilst performing as a professional. Be sure to join the discussion if you haven’t joined up yet: https://www.facebook.com/groups/273514453241915/

  • Hey folks, we are doing our first Q+A in just over an hour 8am my time, 10PM in London and 5PM in New York. If you haven’t joined our WindWorks Members private Facebook group, click here https://www.facebook.com/groups/273514453241915/ Cheers, Greg

  • Thanks Rod, was great meeting you and talking it all through. You’ve heard the line before – “critical awareness of the problem is half the solution” – stick with it, you are well on your way. Cheers, Greg

Jo, you are psychic – 10/10 answer, thank you, I could not have put it better.

Eric, stick with the sensations of freedom and recognise where you lock up and recognise where it is free, then take a snapshot of your SHAPE. Close your eyes, hum, replicate the feeling when playing. Yep, I’m a scratched record!!! 🙂

    I don’t know whether you…[Read more]

I have a video and lesson on pedal coming. It purely depends on the process Eric. A lot of unnecessary manipulation can be casued by doing pedals incorrectly.

The Singing C Series should help you identfy your trigger points. Where odn’t you choke? Where EXACTLY does it start?

    Cheers,

Hey there Hugo, sorry for not seeing this earlier. It is a little difficult to say without seeing what you are doing however, a recognition of the problem is a great start.

So, if we get the magnifying glass out, where does it star?

When you do the Body’s Concert Hall Breath with the finger, in and out, is there any closure?

    If not,…[Read more]

G’Day Mike, I can play the same range with all of my mouthpieces but the workload and sound changes. Being a guinea pig to my own ideas, I found that I could work down to the mp I want for lead that I never used to be able to play, the Bobby Shew marcikeweicz 1.5, I was on the 2 for years and I don’t like the 1 even though I can now play it fine.…[Read more]

Hey Jim, that’s wonderful to hear and completely the point. Congrats on looking “deeply”, I can say it 1,000,000 times but until people get literal with it, they may miss the point. Great stuff!
    Cheers,
    Greg

  • Greg Spence replied to the topic Accenting harmonic slurs in the forum WindWorks 7 years ago

Hey Sam, welcome. Consider this, the higher note is slightly softer not the other way around and there is definitely no activity other than one constant flow/support to maintain the sound. Be sure the keep the BCH free, open and resonant while changing SHAPE to change pitch. Cheers buddy, Greg

    #perfectstudent!!! 🙂

Remember the 1% Rule. What can I let go of. Shoulder tension, jaw tension, tilt your head up and down, open up the throat more (experiment with different sounds), engage the air support muscles then relax them.

A huge boomy, unforced voice resonating in the room is the source of a free, rich resonant sound on the…[Read more]

  • Greg Spence replied to the topic Internal pressure ??'s in the forum WindWorks 7 years ago

Hey there Rod, thanks for your continued enthusiasm, great work ethic and cool questions.

So when you say “there seems to be a particular amount of air that is necessary to match what’s coming back from the horn for higher notes to sound” – do you mean any note at all or a sustained note? Do you mean a long note or a short note? You can play d…[Read more]

Thanks Peter and well done for you discoveries, it will prove to serve you well as you develop. Please help me out by sharing your experiences with playing friends. Word of mouth is the best way to get this info around. Much appreciated and keep it up. Cheers, Greg

Hi Haydn, any small change feels massive at the start but will become comfortable over time. Let the sound be the judge and the use the #POD Point of Difference then to discern whether you are overdoing it physically. Embrace the difference in feeling. As you get your harmonic slurs developing using the PPC’s with a good sound and with the free…[Read more]

Hey Rod, good point, I might get my dudes to put something on the dashboard. People usually email or make payment and we then discuss a suitable time but it seems the forum is a good way too 🙂

You have made excellent progress. What you are saying is no small achievement, especially if you have been playing for a while. I have had serious…[Read more]
